The play confronts issues of bullying, sexual identity, parenting and forgiveness. Milwaukee Rep is committed to providing platforms for understanding between and within the diverse communities of our region by producing plays and programs that engage specific challenges in our community and serve as a catalyst for civic dialogue and action. With this world premiere production there is a unique opportunity to increase awareness of LGBT issues in our community and better Milwaukee for generations to come.
A. Rey’s play after all the terrible things I do will open at Milwaukee Repertory and Huntington Theatres in 2014 – ’15. This summer, his play A Power Play; Or, What’s-its-name was presented at the 2014 O’Neill Playwrights Conference, his second residency there after Thunder Above, Deeps Below was presented in 2008. Rey’s play Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them premiered at the Humana Festival, received the Steinberg/ATCA New Play Citation and nominations for 2013 GLAAD Media and Lambda Literary Awards, and was featured at Guadalajara’s 2014 Semana Internacional de la Dramaturgia.
